Open Ballroom Vegas Open

I had the privilege to be invited again this year to judge the Vegas Open and was asked to write this article about the Pro Open Ballroom division. I have to say it was great to watch this event but felt more difficult to judge and definitely not easy to comment either. This competition started with a very strong quarter-final and the level of all competitors was so high that some very well known couples couldn't make it into the semifinal.

This year, 2016, marks the beginning of new history in the running of the prestigious New York Dance Festival. Under the new ownership of the legendary couple Eugene and Maria, many things were changed and improved or even invented to make this event more special and unique. But my job is to cover only the Pro Smooth division and I have to say I was very impressed by the quality and strength of all the couples.

Saturday night at the Vegas Open Dance Challenge was a very special night because the Professional Open International Ballroom event was dedicated to a Dance Legend whom we lost almost a year ago, Mr. Brian Puttock. The audience, dancers and all the officials gave huge support to Susan Puttock.
