It was a fine evening of professional competition this year at The Yankee Classic. Our hosts, Cathi and John Nymechek, provided a wonderful venue and atmosphere for all competitors. All the pro events on Saturday night were very exciting, drawing professionals from up and down the Eastern US. Here is my take on the Professional American Rhythm division.

The Yankee Classic was held June 19 - 22, once again at the Marriott Hotel in Cambridge, MA, right across the Charles River from downtown Boston and once again it incorporated World Masters titles in the Open Amateur and Professional Ballroom and Latin divisions. The organizers are John & Cathie Nyemchek.

This year’s American Rhythm competition at the Millennium was about as exciting a competition as I have seen in a long time. In my humble opinion there were two couples competing for 1st, one competing for 3rd, one competing for 4th and six or seven for the remaining two spots.

Love it or hate it, the Blackpool Dance Festival is still around since its inception in 1920 (with a break for the WWII years) and seems all set to make it to 100, providing that the venerable but crumbling Winter Gardens remain upright in the interim.
