This year as every year, the Rhythm categories in the Pro/Am field were completely filled with two days of nonstop Rhythm events.  These two days, as we mentioned on our blog ended with the Pro/Am scholarships and they were very disputed.

Ohio Star Ball - Professional Latin

It was a privilege to be part of this wonderful competition, first as a competitor for so many years and now as an adjudicator.  As I stood on the side of the floor watching the first heat of the first round walk out onto the floor, the feelings of once upon a time came back and I had a smile to myself.  Then the game face came and down to business I went.

In the first rounds there were couples that stood out but many that seem to have spent too much time on YouTube trying to emulate their heroes and not enough time in the studio perfecting themselves to stand out from the crowd.

World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Open Smooth "A

Coming in 6th place in this strong final was Madison Stribling dancing with Mayo Alanen (6,6,6,5).  The tango is when I was able to watch her for a bit and my suggestion would be to bring head up in some movements to add more dimension to her dancing.

A Kingly Contest! Kings’ Ball 2015

Report by Keith Todd

This was my first ever trip to the Kings’ Ball which was held this year December 4th  - 6th in the Hilton Meadowlands, NJ.  This hotel has the advantage of being close to New York City and Newark Airport, in fact only about eight miles from the Holland Tunnel and Manhattan, but far enough out that the high prices of the city are not so noticeable.

1.  Haritonovs/Haritonova (1,1,2,2,2) Latvia

Very Lucky Winners.  They won by their second places with one mark.  A close race with the runners-up.  They showed good technical quality and kept their bodies centered.  The understanding of the musical swing must be improved.
