It was an honor to be asked to judge this year at the US National Amateur Championships organized by Lee Wakefield, Curt Holman and the BYU Team. It’s always a great pleasure to be at one of BYU dance competitions and I think any dance enthusiast should experience it at least once. Where else would you see a Newcomer event with 157 couples or nearly 40 Formation Teams including Pre-Teen teams? Where else would you dance and almost can’t hear the music because of thousands of fans cheering for you? Where else would you see hundreds of tiny phone lights swinging in the air with the rhythm of Viennese Waltz?

Placing first in Cha Cha, Paso and Jive and as such the U.S National Youth Champions for 2014 Briant Leytman and Nino Dzneladze. A beautiful couple with a mature approach to their dancing. I like their choreography and style, which is based on great traditional Latin American dancing. Great potential for continued future success as they work on sound fundamental Latin principals.
